Division: Division means that in the statement 5/2=3. There are three groups of 2 in the number six.
(:(: (:(: (:(: - 3 groups of 2 smiley faces.
The word Quotient is the answer to the division question.
If you have 6 dollars and you need pens for scrap booking that are 0.40 cents each?
We used 10x10 grids to solve this problem.
I did my grid like this :
(every colour represents a new type of pen.)
The number you could get with $6 is 15 glitter pens.
If you look at the two first pictures
= 5 glitter pens. and this is equal too $2 , 2 goes into 6 3 times. So, multiply the 5 x 3 = 15 glitter pens.
Now if you estimate, and make it an EASIER question, this is how you do it.
.40 round it off to 0.50 and round it to 2.
2
+2 - 2
__
4 -4
+2
__
6 - 6
+2
__
8 - 8
+2
__
10 - 10
+2
__
12 - 12
Where to put the decimal?
4/3.6=42778.
Round 3.6 to 4.
Now, change the question to a multiplication question.
4x4=16.
Now divide the 16 by 4.
16/4=4.
4 is nearer than 42. So put the decimal between the 4 and the 2.
4/3.6=4.2778.
This is a lady showing you how to divide decimals, if you need any help.
GOOD JOB!!I knew you could do it!:)Nice video and i like the why you explained everything!Good Job!You explained everything we did today perfectly!!:)GREAAT JOOOB!!:):):)
ReplyDeleteGOOD job!!! you should put home work from today
ReplyDeleteGood job Lizelle! I really liked how you used smiley faces for showing 3 groups of 2, I find that really unique because i dont think other people would do that. I also liked how your 10x10 grid was very colorful. I suggest that next time you do smiley faces, make the spaces bigger because I kinda got confused because it looks kind of stuck together. Anyways, keep up to good work :D
ReplyDeleteI liked how you showed all the groups of 40 in the hundred grids with different colors. The colors helped to drag interest and understanding. But next time remember to check over your work and your notes because I thought that your blog was confusing. 5/2 doesn't equal 3. 6/2=3, you just got the 6 mixed up with 5. Also try to add a link to your blog and maybe play around with colors more. Also try to have more explanations in your examples. I hope you take everything we are saying and improve the next time you blog.
ReplyDeleteGood job Lizelle!!! You explained everything well. Maybe next time when you're using hundreds charts, you shouldn't use such bright colours. Everything else was great.(:
ReplyDeleteGood job! I liked how you colored the gird :) I'm so proud this is really nice!

ReplyDeleteGood job! I liked how you used different colours for the 100s chart but next time try to use colours that are more dark, because it was a little hard to see it. You explained what we id today really well!! Three :) :) :) to you!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job Lizelle. :) The grids were bright,
ReplyDeletebut cool. Everything was excellent! But, when you put down "If you have 6 dollars and you need pens for scrap booking that are 0.40 cents each?" was that supposed to be a question? Other than that, nice job! :D
Wow! You did a very good and unique job! The colored one hundred grid was truly original and so were the smiley faces. But next time, make the different groups of faces different colors we can identify. Also, you should have put today's homework. And you made a BIG mistake. You forgot to put labels on your post. Otherwise, good job. :)
ReplyDeleteGood job:)!! You explained it very well and you even added the video and the grid, but I think the colours on the grid were to bright and you didnt add the link and I agree with Julibella43 that you should play around with the colours. But rather than that you did a good job!:)
ReplyDeleteGood job. I liked how the video has something to do about what we learned today. Next time you should put and link and today's homework.
ReplyDeleteGood job Lizelle, but if you forgot or something. Did we have homework? Because in your post, it says nothing about homework. Maybe next time you should, as just incase some of our classmates didnt go school and were sick and needs to do missed school work this will be the perfect place, anyways. Good job, but next time post our homework (:
ReplyDeleteGood job Lizelle. You forgot to put in today's homework though. The grid was unique and it made it quite clear. The video was clear and instructive. Make sure you post homework. Good job.
ReplyDeleteNice Job Lizelle. You forgot to put whats homework. You explained well. I liked it when you posted the grid and with colours.Good Job ! =D
