Parallel and Perpendicular lines

Parallel and Perpendicular lines

Geometry- shapes and measurements.

Parallel- describes two lines in the same plane that never cross, or intersect.

- they are marked using arrows.

Perpendicular- describes lines that intersect at right angles. ( 90°)

- they are marked using a small square. ________________________________________________________________

measure the diference from:

A to B

B to C

E to F

F to G

I to J

J to K

they all are 8.9 cm.

identify any parallel lines you can find.

AE // BF, EI // FJ, CG // BF, GK // JF, AI // CK

what d0 you notice about parallel lines? they always are the same distance apart no metter where you measure, as long as you measure a perpedicular line.

identify any perpendicular line segments.

AE __ DF , FE __ AI , BF __ EG , CG __ FH

What do you notice about perpendicular line segments? they all meet at 60° angles.

here is a link to a video i watched about line parallel and perpendicular lines.

*HOMEWORK*

#1. Are line segments AC and DF parallel?

#2. Are line segments DF and BE perpendicular?

#3. Are line segments AC and BE perpendicular? How do you know?

#4. Would a line segment joining A to D be parallel to a line segment BE? How do you know?

  1. Great job, Kayla! You included everything we did in math today. There is one issue though. Perpendicular line segments all meet at 90 degrees, not 60. Anyway, great job! I also like your fonts and different colors. You also had awesome pictures!

  2. Nice job Kayla. You mentioned everything that was in math. Just to let you know, perpendicular line segments meet at 90 degrees. Other than job, nice job. :)

  3. Good job Kayla. Everything you mentioned at this blog wsa all the the things I remember doin' in class. You a mistake when you said perpendicular lines meet at 60 degrees, it should have said 90 degrees. Otherwise, nice job on the blog again.

  4. Good Job! You put down everything we did today including are homework. The only mistake was it was suppose to be 90 degrees not 60 degrees. Other than that everything was perfect.

  5. Good job!! You put down everything we did today. You explained it clearly and you wrote it down very neatly. I found no mistakes except for one; perpendicular lines meet in a 90 degree angle. Not 60. Except for that, Good Job! :)

  6. I think you did a really great job showing what parallel and perpendicular was with the pictures! But next time I think that you should check your work over because I found some mistakes. Also I didn't like that you had so much space between your work. So maybe next time, have smaller spacings. Other than that, I thought you did a great job.

  7. Good job Kayla (: I really liked how you changed some words into different colors and how you used a lot of pictures. When you were talking about perpendicular lines, they meet at 90 degree angles, not 60 and next time, try not to put so many spaces. Overall, i enjoyed your scribe.

  8. Good job with the post. It was clear and the pictures made sense although you should watch what you put on because you made a mistake with putting a perpendicular line as 60 degrees instead of 90 degrees. Everything else was good.

  9. Good Job Kayla! You did an awesome job looking for pictures and the video!Good Job!good thinking of adding our homework along with the scribe and also isn't it 90 degrees not 60 degrees? But anyways good job:D

  10. Good Job Kayla! You explained the stuff we did in class very well and I liked the different colors for important words. I also liked your pictures; they were very helpful. The problem is the spaces in your work are too big, especially the long one at the end. Keep up the good work!

  11. Great job Kayla! I liked all the diagrams you showed and the way you highlighted the key words. I also liked the reminder you made of the homework. As people said earlier, you should've made teh spaces a little smaller. But everything else was great.(:

  12. Good job. I like how the video talks about the video talks about the subject. Next time you should try to embed the video and the thing where you have to measure the distance was 8 panels or boxes. Other than that you did good.

  13. Good Job. The video is very good because it talks about the subject. I like how you put different colours on the important stuff. I also liked when you put the reminder for our homework! Excellent Goob KAYLA!

  14. Good Job! You explained everything very well, and the I liked the way you used different colors, changing the size and the font......But you made a mistake, the perpendicular lines meet at 90 degrees not 60 degrees. And I think you should space your letters out more so it is easier to read..Next time read over your work before putting it out...but other than that you did a Good Job!!

  15. "Great Job! I liked how you used colors. Your pictures were great and I liked how you spaced everything, though I wish you hadn't spaced it out as much as you did, next time spell check your work because I spotted a few mistakes..Other than that, Great Job!

  16. Good job Kayla! You did great. I liked how you explained everything. Why is there a huge space for?

  17. Good job kayla but you but 60° instead of 90° and what is up with big spaces but good job
