### Area

Area is the space a shape takes up. It is described in square units. (4 cm 2)

Review:

Area of a square or rectangle:

Length times width.
A=L x W
A=6
x 2
A=12 cm 2

Area of a parallelogram

Base times height

A= B x H
A= 10 x 5
A= 50 m 2

Area of a circle

A= pi r 2

Use pieces of circle to create a shape close to a parallelogram.

Area problems

find the area of a circle with the radius of 10 m.

A= Pi r 2.
A=3.14 x 10 2
A=3.14 x 100
A=314 m 2.

Find area of following circles:

8 cm
A= pi r 2
A= 3.14 x 82
A= 3.14 x 64
A= 200.96 cm2

14.8 m
A= pi r 2
A= 3.14 x 14.82
A= 3.14 x 219.04
A= 687.79 m2

Divide the diameter by 2 to get the radius. 20 cm / 2 is 10 cm.
A= pi r 2
A= 3.14 x 10
2
A= 3.14 x 100
A= 314 cm 2

6.8 m / 2 is 3.4
A= pi r 2
A= 3.14 x 3.4
2
A= 3.14 x 11.56
A= 36.30 m 2

1. Nice job Suzie! I liked that you gave the formulas and nice pictures. You forgot to include the link that we had to go to which Mr. Isfeld told you to add. I don't get why there are all these shapes, dots etc. evereywhere but other then that, good job. (:

2. Nice blog:)I understood everything but I think you could've made your picture clearer when you were turning a circle into a parallelogram.
Like what Melanie said.. you forgot the link Mr. Isfeld told us to go to and I also dont get why there are all these symbols and shapes on your blog. Anyways .. good job. Keep up the good work!

3. Good Job Suzie!!:D I liked how you changed the colour when you explained each type of formula and the pictures helped too. You didn't include a link though. I don't understand why there are shapes near the end of the post but they could have been the words....I dunno. Againm, Good job Suzie!!:D

4. Nice job Suzie! Your post was good and easy to understand and I liked the pictures. However, you forgot to put the link that Mr. Isfeld gave us, and I have no idea what those shapes are at the end, but that is probably a mistake. Anyway, great post Suzie:D

5. Good job!! You explained everything very well and the picture were good too :)You didn't include a link for the website that we had to visit. And there were shapes at the end, but that could've been a mistake, so yeahh... Either than that good jobs!!

6. Good job. You explained everything well. I like how every time you explain something new you would change the colour. The only thing was, is that you forgot to put the link that Mr.Isfeld told you to add. Other than that you did good.

7. Awsome Job! You explained the work we did in class properly ,you had lots of exiting colours and changed the font size but no extremly rad fonts. You also forgot the www.mathplayground.com site thingy but otherwise sweet job!

8. Nice post. Easy to read, short, simple and good. You got everything except the link to the mathplayground. Also, what on earth are those shapes! :)

9. Nice job Suzie.. except the fact that you put a weird font.. Anyways, improve on your post. You'll be good at it. :)

10. Great job Suzie! Your post was very good and easy to understand... except for the end. What in the world (including the earth, Venus, Andromeda etc.) is that? A creepy font or signs of the apocolypse? Probably just a quirky error. Also, you forgot the link. Other than that, your post was good.

11. Great Job Suzie LALALAAL. Your post was hard to understand. One think you forgot is a link. You put a weird font, I couldnt understand. Other than that, Great Job Suzie LALALAALA ! (:

12. Good job Suzie. Your post was good and easy to understand except...what were those random symbols and shapes?
I like how you used different colours and fonts and your pictures were good too. Although you forgot the link Mr.Isfeld told you to post Anyways, good job!

13. Nice work, Suzie! I understood everything, but I think you could've made your picture more clearer when you were turning a circle into a parallelogram. Unfortunately, you forgot the link Mr. Isfeld told us to go to. Anyways, I think you did a good job. Keep up the good work!

14. Nice work suzie, your diagrams were poorly drawn, but other than that great job ! I liked how you used alot of colour , great job suzie !
