April 14 2010 Integers

Zero Pair
-a pair of integer chips with one chip reperesenting +1 and -1.
eg. +1 -1
The pair represent 0 because
(+1) + (-1) = 0
Opposite Integers
-two integers with the same numeral (number) but different signs. (+ -)
eg. + + - -
+2 -2
You can use these symbols to help add positive and negative integers.
eg. + + + + + - - - + - zero
+ - zero
+ - zero
+ +1
+ +1
5 + (-3) =2
Show using chips
(+2) + (+3) (-1) + (-5) (+4) + (-2) (+3) + (-6)
++ +++ = ++2 - - - - - - - - -2 ++++ - - + - 0 +++ - - - - - - + - 0
++2 - -1 + - 0 + - 0
+ 1 - -1 + 1 + - 0
- -1 + 1 - -1
- -1 - -1
- -1

  2. Good job Nils! You included all the notes we were given today and you explained everything well. I think that instead of just writing - and +, you should've used circles. Anyways, you posted both a link and video which was great. Thanks for the reminder of the homework! (:

  5. Good Job Nils! don't worry about the integer chips, we can still understand it. I guess? Thanks for the video, that helped me a lot. Also, nice link you posted. It can really help people that don't get integers. Thanks for posting homework. Keep up the good work, Nils.

  10. Nils, you did a wonderful job! You took the extra time to find a video along with a link. So, I thought that was well done, but next time you should make your font a little bit bigger and try to explain your examples in a way that it's easy to follow. But other than that, you did a wonderful job.

  12. Nice job Nils! the video was very helpful and you explained everything goodly :) but when you were using the + and - signs it was sort of confusing so I think you should have made a picture instead or spaced it out more. anyways good job

  13. Good job nils, I liked what you did,
    but what ana said before using the +'s and -'s got sort of confusing, maybe you should use pictures instead of using that, it'd make alot of things more simplier for you, and for us. But other than that you did a great job, good job !

  14. Good post, Nils! You included all the notes and it was neat. I liked your video and link. If i were to change anything, the show using chips part was confusing to understand. Other than that, great job!

  15. Great job! Your post was very informative. I liked how you used colouful positive and negative signs, but yes, it did get messed up in the 'show using chips' part. I liked the fact that you put a video up and put a bright red homework reminder. However you could improve by using brackets when using your positive and negative signs eg(++) - (-) = (+). Other than that, good job.
